Well Connected for a reason.
The name is a claim. This is what’s behind it.
Somewhere along the way, we became the people people called. For the table nobody could get. The room that wasn’t available. The week that mattered too much to leave to chance.
A contact list only gets you so far. The part that takes years is knowing which name on it to call, what’s fair to ask them, and how to ask so the answer comes back yes. That the person who can say yes is rarely the one listed on the website. That a Tuesday is easier than a Thursday and often better. That a favor spent well is worth more than a favor saved.
More than thirty years of hospitality between us, on both sides of the table. We’ve been on the stage during these weeks and we’ve been the ones quietly filling the room, and we’re better at the second. We’ve also been the client: the one who signs off on something expensive and hopes it lands, who knows what an evening has to do to be worth repeating and how it gets described to a CFO in February.
Hospitality and business aren’t separate skills here. The evening has to work as an evening. It also has to be worth what it cost.
